Sunday Prep
- Start Grains Cook brown rice or quinoa according to package. Starting grains first ensures they finish alongside everything else.

- Season Chicken Pat chicken dry. Brush with olive oil. Apply dry rub evenly. Pound to even ¾-inch thickness for consistent cooking.

- Bake Chicken and Vegetables Place chicken on wire rack over sheet pan. Roast broccoli and sweet potato on second sheet. Bake everything at 425°F for 20 to 22 minutes until chicken reaches 165°F per USDA safe minimum cooking temperatures. Rest 5 minutes.

- Prep Cold Components While chicken bakes: shred cabbage, halve tomatoes, drain beans, thaw edamame. Make high-protein ranch dressing if using.

Portion and Store
- Weigh and Slice Chicken Slice chicken against grain. Weigh 5 oz per serving on kitchen scale do not estimate. Accurate protein tracking requires accurate portioning.

- Build or Store Components Option A (full bowls): Layer grain, roasted vegetables, chicken, cold vegetables. Sauce always in separate container. Option B (components separate): Store each component separately. Assemble each morning in 2 minutes. Better texture through day 5.

- Label and Refrigerate Label with day and bowl flavor. Refrigerate immediately. Do not leave at room temperature more than 2 hours.

Notes
Five-flavor system:
Same chicken, five different sauces and toppings. Teriyaki Monday, Mediterranean Tuesday, Chipotle Wednesday, Peanut Sesame Thursday, BBQ Ranch Friday. Variety prevents the boredom that causes meal prep to be abandoned by week two.
Sauce always separate:
Never add dressing to assembled bowls before storage. Sauce soaks into grains and softens vegetables within 24 hours. Small separate containers for every sauce.
Weigh chicken portions:
Visual portioning is inaccurate. 5 oz of sliced chicken looks very different depending on how it is cut. Kitchen scale is the only reliable method for tracking protein accurately.
Avocado and cucumber:
Never pre-slice. Avocado browns within hours. Cucumber goes limp within a day once cut. Add both fresh each morning.
Scale up?
Double everything for 2 people or 2 weeks. Cook chicken in two separate batches crowding reduces even browning and changes texture.
